FOUNDING MEMBER OF ABRAMS FENSTERMAN PARTICIPATES IN DEVELOPING NEW PUBLIC HEALTH DISASTER MANUAL FOR JUDGES AND LAWYERS

Lake Success, NY – February 4, 2011 — Robert Abrams, Esq., a founding member of the full-service law firm of Abrams Fensterman in Lake Success and currently ‘of counsel’ to the firm, collaborated on an important new publication that will enable State and local governments and public health professionals to respond more effectively and efficiently in the event of a public health emergency.

Abrams participated in creating this New York State Bar Association publication, titled New York State Public Health Legal Manual: A Guide for Judges, Lawyers, and Public Health Professionals, with seven other attorneys and two judges. In his foreword to the manual, the Honorable Jonathan Lippman, Chief Judge of the State of New York, stated that the new manual “will be an absolutely essential tool in guiding us through the effective management of future public health disasters.”

Mr. Abrams and the other committee members responsible for creating this new manual collaborated with various governmental agencies, including the New York State Unified Court System, the New York State Department of Health, and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, in order to understand the lines of authority and applicable laws that would govern in the event of such an emergency.

Abrams Fensterman was established in 2000, bringing together a team of top attorneys with decades of experience in specific areas of law. With offices in Lake Success, New York City, and Rochester, the firm is structured to provide sophisticated legal representation across a range of practice areas. One of the areas in which the firm has built its excellent reputation is as the “go-to” law firm for the healthcare industry. The firm represents thousands of healthcare providers, including hospitals, nursing homes and medical providers, ranging from individual physicians to large hospitals and medical providers.
